The Yahoo! Apps Service Engineering team is looking for a highly motivated and experienced engineer possessing experience in working with large scale production deployments with good development skills in building monitoring, diagnostic and troubleshooting tools.

The position entails

  • working on the reliability, scalability and performance aspects of distributed applications
  • working with large scale production deployments of thousands of servers
  • building tools to manage, monitor and trouble shoot large scale networks

Skills & Experience

To be successful, you must have 5+ years of experience with the following skills:

  • operating systems (FreeBSD or similar forms of Unix)
  • Perl and UNIX scripting
  • understanding of DNS, NFS, TCP/IP and other internet protocols
  • very good understanding of Mysql DB’s
  • experience in application level troubleshooting and monitoring
  • knowledge of tools like Netcool or Nagios would be a plus
  • excellent problem solving skills
  • excellent communication skill

BSCS or equivalent is required.
